Puzol, Valencia, Spain
The 6th grade art class students created art for their exchange group in Accokeek, Maryland, USA. Each student also wrote a letter to include with their artworks. Example of student letter:
”Dear students,
“Hello my name is Mary, I am a 6th grader from American School of Valencia (ASV). The school is located in Alfinach, and the school is fun and peaceful. I myself live in Burjassot and go by bus, and also love animals.
“My artwork is inspired by Jasper Johns, it is letters, symbols, drawn on a piece of paper and colored with complimentary colors: red and green, yellow and purple, blue and orange. The technique we used is shading, to blend colors together you have to shade really lightly but to do the corners you have to press hard.
“Peace, freedom from disturbance; tranquility. A state or period in which there is no war or a war has ended. Peace is a stress-free state of security and calmness that comes when there's no fighting or war, everything coexisting in perfect harmony and freedom. It is also when all people are treated with kindness, regardless of race, gender orientation, sexual orientation, religion, etc. When people don’t engage in violence, don’t threaten others, etc. Peace means societal friendship and harmony in the absence of hostility and violence. In a social sense, peace is commonly used to mean a lack of conflict and freedom from fear of violence between individuals or groups.”
Sincerely Mary
