Kelly’s House Kids Group exchanged their art with the Create Art Center in Newport, Washington, USA.
Message to Global Art Project for Peace from Kelly Scott:
“Hi Katherine!
“I hope this finds you well. My friend Cate and I started work on our Peace Pockets yesterday and we’re so pleased with the results! The concept is evolving as we work on them. The plan is to make 100. 25 to send to our partners and 75 to distribute in our own community.
“Cate and I are making the pockets and the kids (and adults too I hope) will be adding their drawings/images/messages of peace to go inside them. We are also going to encourage people to write their names and locations on the outside of the pocket as it travels from person to person/house to house. We will also be asking people to send us a picture of themselves with their pocket to add to our ongoing Peace Map. I’m going to start by sending one to my niece in Nairobi! That should start an interesting trail.
“We will add the Global Art Project for Peace logo to the back of each pocket. Thinking a heat transfer will work well. My friend Lisa is a designer and could create a high quality transfer for us if she had it. My hope is that the pockets will travel and I want to make sure that they always stay connected to Global Art. It will also help make it clear to people what the goal of the pockets are. We will be including a laminated info card in each pocket with directions on how to use them.

“Hello Joyce & Sarah,
“I hope this finds you both well. The kids and I, here in Toronto, Canada are really looking forward to making a connection with you. We’re having lots of fun getting our gifts together for all of you!
“I wouldn’t normally spoil the surprise before your delivery but I wanted to let you know what we’re up to. Our project this year has a ‘pass it on’ component.
“You can check us out @peacepocketsglobal. I’m so looking forward to watching the pockets travel and hope that your group will be excited to pass on their pockets and keep the ball rolling.
“I have already launched the project here in my neighbourhood and the community is excited to be sharing the peace. There are 60 pockets soon to be in circulation. I’m hoping everyone here will get them out the door by the end of the month. Yours should be to you by the end of the month as well.
