“Inspiration for Global Art Project for Peace 2021–2022

“The collage in this photo was inspired by my practice of witnessing the full moon rise in the afterglow of sunset from my home in Tucson, Arizona. It is a treasured reminder to reach out from my heart with openness and peace to all sentient beings, known and unknown, within and beyond my understanding of time, space and relationship. Rumi’s words ‘Beyond the idea of wrong-doing and right-doing there is a field. I’ll meet you there.’ inform this practice and this collage.

“It was created by materials at hand including old Thai silk fabrics arranged to honor the mountains and skies at twilight in the Sonoran Desert; my frame drum with handprints rising to the full moon in gratitude and celebration; a hand-blown spiral dish gifted by an old friend symbolizing a rising intention to meet as one in The Beyond.”

“Tucson is situated in Pima County, the homelands of the Tohono O’Odham nation and Pascua Yaqui tribe whose presence as caretakers continues from time immemorial.”
